In a recent statement released by Fedor Emelianenko, Fedor addressed statements that Dana White has said concerning Fedor.

"Numerous times have I read mister White’s statements on Internet concerning myself. In my opinion, allowing yourself to say those things is not a sign of a gentleman or a grown man at all! If he candidly wants to prove himself right then let my fight with Randy happen or let me face the reigning UFC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. In the future I wouldn’t want to hear those statements in my address ever again and I won’t tolerate that. My last fight in Japan proved that I’m ready to fight anybody with any height advantage, skillset or experience. I have fought and still wish to fight the best athletes. The Randy fight is my goal number one right now, he’s a great fighter and this is a very unfortunate situation when too strict and one-sided UFC contracts don’t let this fight happen. The whole world is eager to see me fight your champions, people don’t want to listen to your press-conferences. I’m signed with M-1 Global and this promotion is ready to organize such fights under our banner or in co-promoted events." (http://mmajunkie.com)

Dana has over the past couple of months, has gone out of his way to comment on Fedor's last couple of fights and how if Fedor came and fought in the UFC he would lose. Dana has not minced words when it comes to what he thinks of Fedor, he has stated  "Fedor isn’t a real fighter, he’s a complete joke. He’s fighting middleweights and guys who have absolutely no business fighting – and he’s looking like s*** doing it. It’s 2008 and he hasn’t had a real fight since 2005. I don’t care about what he did in PRIDE years ago - he can’t live with anyone in the top five in the UFC and that’s why he’s not here. He’s not in the UFC because if he was he couldn’t avoid real competition like he’s been doing for years now." Interesting stance by Dana since the newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion has been beaten by Fedor twice. Now everyone wants to see the fight between Fedor and Randy Couture, but the question is will we? Well Dana White has stated that he will not co-promote with any other MMA organization, so until Randy's contract has run out with the UFC, I don't see the fight happening.

A couple of problems that I can see with a fight bewteen Fedor and Randy, would it be for the UFC HW championship belt? Right now the UFC has two HW champs, Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Interim Champion), so if Fedor fought Randy and won, would he become the champ? If he did become the champ then a fighter not under contract with the UFC would be the holder of one their championship belts. I don't see Dana liking this or letting this situation happen. And if Fedor did win, would he fight Nogueira to unify the belt? Would we see a fourth fight bewteen the two? Fedor holds two victories over Nogueira and a No Contest, so would their be a market for a fifth fight? As a fan I would love to see another fight, but how many people feel like me?

And then if Randy won, would he fight Nogueira to unify the belt? Right now Randy is taking a stand about fighting Nogueira, Randy was offered a fight against Nogueira at UFC 81 but turned it down. I have a sneaking feeling that if Randy were to fight Fedor, then he would retire after that fight. So that still would leave us without a unified HW champion. Would the UFC just finally say that Nogueira is the champ, seeing as how they still have Randy listed as the HW champ on their website.

I would like to see Randy fight Nogueira and then fight Fedor. Only time will tell whether or not we will get a fight between Randy and Fedor, but hopefully this whole situation works itself out.
