Tim Sylvia, former heavyweight champion of the UFC, and Ben Rothwell, top IFL heavyweight, have both signed with Adrenaline MMA, the new incarnation of M-1 Global.

Sylvia voiced his displeasure with the UFC's handling of fighter pay, citing specifically the unusually hefty purse that Brock Lesnar received for his debut fight.

“I want to stay with the UFC but I am going to go where the money is right now,” Sylvia commented via his website sometime before officially announcing his departure. “Brock is making more money then me [and] that has to change. In case [you] didn't know my manager runs M1 so I have a pretty good in so we will see what happens in the next few months.”

Sylvia was drawn to Adrenaline MMA because his contract would be non-exclusive, allowing him to fight in other promotions as he pleases.

"I'll be real active, fighting six or seven times a year," Sylvia said on Inside MMA. "Adrenaline is a new company that's just starting up, but they're allowing fighters to fight outside of their organization. That's huge... Take for instance my last fight. Granted, I lost, but I came out of there unhurt and unscathed. I could have fought a week or two later. Being 32 years old, I have four or five good years ahead of me. I plan to make the most of it."

With Tim Sylvia and Ben Rothwell, who is currently riding a 13 fight win streak, signed to Adrenaline, the organization has a respectable foundation.

"We have two of the best heavyweights in the world to start off," Monte Cox, CEO of Adrenaline MMA, said. "There are a lot of organizations that would like to be in our shoes."

Adrenaline MMA will have its first event on July 14 in Chicago, Illinois. Jeff Monson and Mike Russow are already signed to compete on the card.
