One-time UFC fighter Dan Lauzon (8-2) scored a first-round submission of once-undefeated Frank Latina (4-1) in the main event of Friday’s World Championship Fighting event. The soldout event drew approximately 3,700 spectators to the Shriners Auditorium just outside Boston in Wilmington, Mass. In addition to the 12-fight card, WCF organizers provided a star-studded lineup of special guests, including UFC President Dana White, Marcus Davis, Kenny Florian, Jorge Rivera, Alex Karalexis, Sean Gannon, Murilo “Ninja” Rua and the TapouT Crew. In the night’s main event, Lauzon, who was being taped for the TapouT reality series, got the better of an initial stand-up exchange before controlling the fight on the ground. He needed just three minutes to force the tap-out via triangle choke. Lauzon is the youngest fighter ever to appear in the UFC. In October 2006 — at 18 years, five months and 14 days old — Lauzon took a fight on two weeks’ notice and suffered a first-round TKO to UFC veteran Spencer Fisher at UFC 64. He left the organization soon after the loss to gain more experience. He’s since gone 4-1 and is riding a four-fight win streak. Lauzon, who could now be headed to the WEC, is the younger brother of UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon. The full results from Friday’s event included:
