This double DVD has a documentary which features footage from fight organisations all over the world including UFC and the Vale Tudo World Championships on Disk 1. The documentary is not short of big names as it produces star after star right from the start. Randy Couture - LEGEND, Frank Shamrock - LEGEND, Mark Coleman - LEGEND..to name just a few, are interviewed and they share their fight philosophies. In the first ten minutes Gary Goodridge threw down the gauntlet to others in the competition of coolest quote of the documentary. Goodridge: “What is it about fighting? I love to be able to curl my hands up and just drive them into somebody’s head and not get charged!” Egan Inoue surprised me, in a feature on the Inoue brothers, when he stated that he’s not a guy that loves to fight. “It’s a way of making money, it’s just a job” he said. Egan’s brother, Enson, gets in on the cool quotes game “I will not take shit from no-one…whether it be Yakuza or a big samoan wrestler!” Egan says he believes Enson is the best No Holds Barred fighter in the world while Enson states the brothers have become much closer since they entered the fight game. During this chapter viewers are treated to highlights of a Vale Tudo bout between Enson Inoue and Randy Couture from 1998 and highlights of a UFC victory for Enson over Royce Alger. Enson is not shy to talk about his credentials and his fight philosophy but to be fair, he’s not the only one he knows what he brings to the table. Five time UFC Middleweight Champion, Frank Shamrock endorses Enson as his toughest opponent. The next chapter in the documentary is all about the quick paced and brutal world of Vale Tudo. The DVD follows the World Vale Tudo Championships all the way through from the first round, showing highlights of each fight and briefly profiling each fighter’s background along the way. The first round of the tournament delivered an amazing knockout kick from Russian kickboxer Amar Souloev against Luis Alberto, who had seemed to be in control of the fight until Souloev’s knockout blow to the face. American fighter, Phil Esminger was annoying me with his arrogance so I was hoping he would get a mauling at the hand’s of newcomer Alaor Soares, who had only been training for one month. However, Esminger showed he could back physically back up what he repeated verbally…still there’s always the second round for him to get his |
