Cage Rage is the UK’s leading Mixed Martial Arts event, bringing the best fights, the best fighters, and the best all-out fighting action. Witness the biggest names in the UK facing up against some of the most talented fighters in the World. Cage Rage has it all! UK Boxing legend, Julius Francis, the man who has stood toe to toe with the likes of Mike Tyson and Matt Skelton, turns his hand to the world of Mixed Martial Arts in this great debut fight against one of Cage Rage’s finest, Gary "Smiler" Turner. Also on the card, Brazilian legend Vitor Belfort takes on the tough and resilient James Zikic, whilst in an epic UK-favourites battle Mark Weir takes on Paul Daley!

The opening of the DVD, saw some nice short fighting talk between some of the fighters on this Cagerage presentation. The ring girl segment was short and we got pretty much straight into the action. Match and fighter graphics were clear. The entrances were all over dubbed music, thankfully very short. The camera angles, lighting and editing was top notch. The commentary was clear and the crowd mix was probably the best I have heard in Cagerage. One thing though they have left out the countdown clock, this was my biggest problem with watching Cagerage DVD’s in the past and I thought it was sorted with the last few Cagerage DVD’s featuring the countdown clock. It might seem like a minor issue, but it really does take away from the fight when watching it on the box!
The show as always was presented by Andy Geer and Dave O’Donnel and they start off with a run down of what we can expect tonight in Cagerage 23. With British MMA legend ‘Ian Freeman’ backstage giving his views. The show starts off with a Kickboxing bout with Lee Doski taking on Jason Barrett. A great opening fight which went the full 3 rounds.
This DVD is available for only £9.99 from MMA Universe The main section of the card was solid and well booked, with a diverse range of fighting styles and weights. Neil Grove once again used his sheer size and power to destroy his opponent in under 40 seconds. A fighter I would like to see more of. One fight on the mid card that I was looking forward to watching was the bout between Mark Weir and Paul Daley. Weir dropping down a weight class for this bout, was going to make it more interesting. This bout did not fail to impress. Weir seemed to be getting a little over confident during the bout and was this to create a massive defeat? The first of the two main events on this card saw who many thought was the favourite Vitor Belfort take on the less favoured James Zikic. This fight was went through all three rounds and was so evenly matched, with lots of exchanges. The last two rounds Belfort seemed to take more control on the ground and Zikic could not turn it around. The decision went down to the judges. The top of the bill saw Cagerage favourite Gary Turner take on Former British Heavyweight Boxing Champion Julias Fransis (43 years old). Turner who in his last two Cagerage events had a bloody battle with Edson Drago and a convincing win over Tank Abbott, was looking to continue with his winning streak once again taking on one of the big names brought into by Cagerage. Julias Fransis making his Cagerage debut should not be counted out as he does have a kick boxing background to accompany the boxing. To be honest it was not much of a fight and to be expected a fitter more experienced Gary Turner was always going to be on top. Fransis did not have any offence at all during this short fight. In summery this was a great show of Cagerage action and one I would happily recommend to new and old MMA fight fans. The only let down was the lack of a countdown clock! What should have been a perfect DVD release was let down by what is a minor issue that I am sure is an easy fix. Bring on the next Cagerage DVD.
